You’re Invited: Province-Wide Rally for Home Support, Wednesday, May 6, 2015
WHAT: Province-wide rally for home support workers
WHEN: Wednesday, May 6th, noon to 1 p.m.
WHERE: 10 9 locations (see table below)
The Nova Scotia Citizens’ Health Network, NSGEU, NSNU and CUPE are holding province-wide demonstrations on Wednesday, May 6th from noon to 1 p.m. We are calling on all home support workers to come out and show this government that they need to respect your contracts and ensure your collective agreement goes with you, in the event that a different company is selected to deliver home support services in Nova Scotia.
These demonstrations have been dubbed the “dishtowel demos,” referring to recent comments the Minister of Health and Wellness, Leo Glavine, made about his unwillingness to pay dishwashers $18 an hour.
Many vulnerable Nova Scotians rely on the care home support workers provide, and this government needs to show respect for the work you do. Come out to the demonstration nearest you and let Minister Glavine know what you think of his attitude towards your profession!
