Local 88 St. F.X. – Meetings and/or Voting Scheduled for March 8th
As communicated earlier, we have sessions scheduled for meetings with members and possible voting on March 8th, depending on the outcome of conciliation on March 7th. All sessions will be held in Room 021 in St. Ninian’s Hall in the same format as previous sessions, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. If voting, these sessions will continue later into the afternoon. Another information session is scheduled for 5 p.m., with voting ending at 5:45 p.m.
Some members expressed that one big meeting was more desirable than several meetings, but for meetings held during work hours, they must be scheduled around member’s unpaid time.
Strike Committee and Picket Captains
Today, we want to inform the members of the newly created Strike Committee and the designation of Picket Captains. Of course, our goal is to achieve a tentative agreement on March 7th, but we still need to be prepared in the event that does not occur. The role of the Strike Committee is to oversee a strike and Picket Captains are responsible for their assigned picket lines. The following members have been trained and will fulfill their obligations if a strike is called:
Local 88 Strike Committee:
- Craig Seaboyer
- Carla Haley Baxter
- Jennifer Farrell
- Katherine Walsh
Local 88 Picket Captains:
- Derek Bekkers
- Cheryl Myette
- Matt Turnbull
- Elaine Christensen
- Jason Farrell
- Lynn Patterson
- Jean Reardon
- Brenda Berger
