Local 97 – CDHA Nurses – Mediator Appointed, Conciliator’s Report Filed

Yesterday, the NSGEU called on Labour and Advanced Education Minister Kelly Regan to appoint a mediator to help us reach an agreement with your employer. Mediation is a non-binding tool used to help parties reach a settlement.

Today, we are pleased to share that Minister Regan announced that veteran mediator Bruce Outhouse has been appointed to assist in your contract negotiations.

The conciliator appointed to our negotiations has also filed his report, which means the 14-day countdown to a strike begins tomorrow. The appointment of a mediator does not interrupt the 14-day countdown.

We will discuss these issues in greater detail during our bargaining update meetings, which are scheduled for today and tomorrow.

The meetings are now being held:

When: Wednesday, March 19th (today)

5 to 7 p.m.

7:30 to 9 p.m.

Where:  Lord Nelson (1515 South Park Street, Halifax)

When: Thursday, March 20th

10 a.m. to 12 noon

2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

5 to 7 p.m.

7:30 to 9 p.m.

Where: NSGEU office (255 John Savage Avenue, Burnside)
