Pandemic Premium
Good morning,
It has been brought to the union’s attention that a number of members who worked during the pandemic have not received the pandemic premium which was made available through their employer.
We understand that this has been a frustrating and demoralizing experience: it is the NSGEU’s position that all members employed by the NSHA and IWK who worked throughout the first wave of COVID-19 should be eligible for the Essential Health Care Workers Program payment. However, the provincial government and employer chose to force workers to apply for this pay, and to meet an arbitrary set of criteria that was established by them.
If you feel that you should have received this pay and did not, despite applying for it, please contact your Employee Relations Officer. You can do this by calling us directly at 902-424-4063 (toll-free 1-877-556-7438) or emailing inquiry@nsgeu.ca.
We appreciate the sacrifices you made – and continue to make – for all Nova Scotians during this pandemic.
