Support for Striking Unifor Local 4600 Members at Munro Academy
As of yesterday, September 8th, Unifor Local 4600 at Munro Academy in Sydney Mines is on strike.
The early childhood educators (ECEs) are asking their employer to match the full-time, consistent schedules that are standard at other childcare centres in Cape Breton. After a year of bargaining and three days of conciliation, the employer refuses to move.
We are proud to see the community and even Munro Academy parents showing their support by offering coffee, treats, and encouragement. Now, it’s our turn to stand with them.
Solidarity is the backbone of the labour movement. If you are able, please show the Unifor Local 4600 members that NSGEU stands with them in their fight for fair and respectful working conditions.
You can show your solidarity by joining the picket line, which is active Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
