Update on air quality for members in Local 104
The NSGEU is advising members working in the Addictions Office in Port Hawkesbury that the employer has informed NSGEU that it is taking steps to address the recent concern over air quality in the building.
While the office remains open for service the employer has received three safety incident reports citing the poor air quality.
The Safety Consultant for the area is involved and is working with the local manager and NSGEU OH&S Officer. They have engaged an external consultant who has conducted air quality testing in the office space and will report their findings in the coming days. The NSGEU will be informed of the results as well as any next steps.
Any member feeling ill or has concerns about air quality should contact their immediate supervisor and follow the employers reporting process. Members can also contact Occupational Hygienist Kelly MacRitchie or Occupational Health Nurse Laura Wilkie.
