2014 International Bully-Free Workplaces Conference Opens Tomorrow

Wednesday, June 11

Halifax – Employers, health and safety representatives, labour representatives, and human resources specialists from near and far will be just some of the people attending the 1st International Bully-Free Workplaces Conference which opens tomorrow, June 11. They will be learning more about the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace, what they can do to stop bullying, and about programs which are available to assist them.

On Wednesday at 9:30 am, they will be hearing from Mary Ann Baynton, a member of the Mental Health Commission of Canada’s Expert Panel, and the co-chair of the Technical Committee on the National Standard of Canada on Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace.

At 1pm Valerie Cade, author of the bestselling book “Bully Free at Work: What You Can Do To Stop Workplace Bullying Now” will be presenting.

NSGEU President, Joan Jessome, who has spearheaded the creation and continued development of the NSGEU Bully-Free Workplaces Program, will present on Thursday at 9:30am about labour’s role in creating bully-free workplaces. On Friday at 9:30am, Helge Hoel, a Professor in Organizational Behaviour and Director of the University of Manchester Fairness at Work Research Centre (FairWRC), will present his keynote address.

There are many other presenters and break-out sessions throughout the conference
