A Much Deserved Thank-you to Educational Assistants, Teaching Assistants and Aide-enseignant(e)s (Teacher Aids)

Educational Assistants, Teaching Assistants and Aide-enseignant(e)s (Teacher Aids) have a tremendous impact on student education and the classroom environment. They are assigned to students who have been identified as having exceptional educational, behavioural, and/or physical challenges.

They assist classroom teachers by ensuring the educational and personal needs of these students are met in accordance with each of their Individualized Program Plans. In addition, they support the students in their participation in the school community and provide appropriate interventions.

Educational Assistants, Teaching Assistants and Aide-enseignant(e)s (Teacher Aids) are professional, hard-working team players. Without them, some of the most vulnerable students would feel much less safe and secure going to school every day, and so today we thank them for their tireless efforts to ensure all students have the best educational experience possible in their schools.

The NSGEU and SEIU Local 2 will be bringing a proposal to the provincial government to have a day set aside to have the work you do officially recognized.
