Administrative Professionals Bargaining Unit: Bargaining Update

Dear member,

After the four bargaining dates held in November, your bargaining team set aside three additional days in December to meet with the employer to attempt to reach an agreement. Those dates booked were December 5^th, 6^th and 7^th.

The employer came to the table at 11 a.m. Monday, December 5^th with a package that continued to contain articles that your bargaining team had previously informed them that they could and would not consider, along with articles that had monetary implications.

At this point, the employer challenged the bargaining team to bring forward their expected financial package. The bargaining team did just that, and was informed that their ask was outside the mandate of government and the employer would have to go back and seek direction. The bargaining team was told that this would take time and could not be achieved within the next two days booked for bargaining.

Based on the additional time the employer needed to confer with government, the next two scheduled bargaining dates were cancelled and new dates will be scheduled for January to resume the bargaining process.

The bargaining team was extremely disappointed, to say the least, with the employer and questioned why they couldn’t speak with government over the two days we already had scheduled. They have refused, and we are now seeking dates in January with the hopes the employer and government will truly recognize the importance of the work performed by our bargaining unit.

Once the process resumes in January, we will update you again.
