Update on Employer’s Efforts to Contract Out Retail Food Services

The NSGEU has been advised by your employer that they are planning to move forward with contracting out retail food services, starting with the Tim’s 400 site at the Halifax Infirmary.

They are choosing to reject solutions put forward by the union in a counter-proposal which was submitted at the end of August (you can read the entire proposal here).

We recently learned that the employer has circulated some misleading information about our counterproposal:

Clearly, the employer was simply going through the motions without giving any serious consideration to the proposal put forward by the union.

We have already filed a grievance because the employer has refused to provide important information, as required by your collective agreement.

We are not prepared to accept this outcome. Your local president will be meeting with NSGEU President Joan Jessome and local executive members to discuss next steps, and will be in contact with you shortly.
