Local 71 – Chignecto Central Regional Centre for Education Update on ECE Classification Issues

Attn: Early Childhood Educators and Lead Early Childhood Educators working in Pre-Primary Classrooms with the CCRCE

We, the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union, have been in on-going discussions with your Employer, the Chignecto-Central Regional Centre for Education, with regards to unionizing your classifications (ECE & Lead ECE), much like what has occurred at other Centres. We are pleased to advise that your Employer has agreed to voluntarily recognize your classifications under the Local 71 Collective Agreement. We want to ensure that you, as employees, have a say as to whether or not you wish to be represented with regards to your employment matters, including collective bargaining. As such, we will be arranging an information session and vote. Whereas you are located over a relatively large geographic area, we thought it best to hold a telephone town hall, followed by an electronic vote. The town hall will give you the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have in advance of the vote. The call will be held during non-working hours and we will be in touch with the details as soon as it is arranged. In order for us to reach you for the call, we will need your personal telephone number, as we currently only have your work email addresses. Please call 1-877-556-7438 or email inquiry@nsgeu.ca.

Details regarding the call and vote, including the process for each will follow shortly. We look forward to speaking with you. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
