NSGEU celebrates National Tourism Week – May 31 – June 6, 2015
The NSGEU recognizes and appreciates the work of our Parks and Tourism workers who help promote and maintain our beautiful province.
Unfortunately, government is taking the Nova Scotians out of parks and tourism. They have cut 58 park and tourism positions; closed two Visitor Information Centres and made seven parks self-serve (replaced the staff with yellow phones). They have also privatized our Nova Scotia Tourism Agency and hired someone who lives half the year in Ontario, to chair the new Corporation.
These cuts will impact the services visitors receive when they visit our province and they will impact the families and rural communities in which people live who rely on these seasonal jobs to make a living.
Tell government to keep Nova Scotians in provincial park and tourism services. Tell them good jobs matter to families and communities in Nova Scotia.
