Remembrance Day November 11th- NSGEU offices closed

Lest we forget those who fought and continue to fight for the rights we enjoy today. From one group of public sector workers to another – military personnel. We thank you for your bravery and dedication.

The NSGEU Offices will be closed on Wednesday, November 11th.

This year, we will have to celebrate Remembrance Day a bit differently, due to COVID-19.

Wreath-laying ceremonies being held throughout the province are being restricted to invite-only events. The NSGEU will still be sponsoring wreaths to be laid throughout the province, though members of the Legion will lay the wreaths this year.

However, there is a special virtual Remembrance Day event being hosted by The Memory Project and Historica Canada, featuring talks from veteran speakers.

Please join us to commemorate the courage and sacrifice of current and past members of the Canadian Armed Forces. The ceremony will begin at 11:45 a.m. and run for approximately one hour. To register for this event, please visit:https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/remembrance-day-ceremony-ceremonie-du-jour-du-souvenir-2020-tickets-126552149887?aff=ebdssbonlinesearch

Many people will choose to simply stand outside and observe a moment of silence at 11:11 a.m.

Please find a way to remember the sacrifices of our veterans in a safe way this year.
