NSGEU Civil Service Vote Professional (PR) Bargaining Unit Telephone Town Hall Meeting
WHAT: Civil Service Vote – Telephone Town Hall Information Session
WHEN: Wednesday, December 7, 2016
TIME: 7:30 p.m.
A vote has been called for the Civil Service: Dec. 12 – 14. Members will be voting on whether to accept or reject the employer’s final offer. Your Bargaining Committee is recommending a “No” vote.
We are holding a telephone town hall information session in order to review the employer’s final offer and explain why your Bargaining Committee is recommending you reject it, and vote “No.” The employer’s final offer includes two years of zeros, and ends the Public Service Award for all new members (as of April 2015) while freezing it for all existing members. Now is the time to make your voice heard.
Please note that a “NO” vote will not result in a strike. Civil Service members do not have the right to strike. If members vote to reject the offer, the next step would be conciliation and if that failed, arbitration.
Jason MacLean, NSGEU President, Grant Vaughan, Chief Negotiator, and members of your Bargaining Committee will be on hand to answer any questions or concerns you may have.
Participating in a telephone town hall meeting is easy. We will call you between 7:30 to 7:40 p.m. on Wed. Dec. 7, 2016. During the call, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and make comments by dialing *3. The meeting call will last about 60 minutes, but you can leave at any time simply by hanging up.
You should receive an advance call Monday evening reminding you of the town hall. If you do not receive a call, or if you are unsure if we have an up-to-date phone number for you, please contact us by calling 902-424-4063 (toll-free 1-877-556-7438).
Regarding the vote: you will be emailed a PIN number on Dec. 12 that will allow you to vote. If you do not receive your PIN number by noon, please call the NSGEU.
Please make every effort to participate in the call and feel free to help spread the word
