Health Care Council of Unions Bargaining Update: Additional Conciliation Date Scheduled

The Council of Health Care Unions bargaining committee met on Thursday, July 18th, Friday, July 19th, and Monday, July 22nd with negotiators for Nova Scotia Health and the IWK to continue to try to conclude a collective agreement for 9,100 health care workers across the province.

On July 22nd, the parties were joined by a Conciliation Officer. Over the course of these days at the table, some progress was made. As a result of this forward momentum, the parties have agreed to meet with the Conciliation Officer for an additional date of conciliation on Thursday, August 8th in order to continue to bargain.

In the meantime, the Council will continue negotiations toward an essential services agreement which is required before a strike could take place. The Council will proceed with essential services conciliation dates scheduled from August 13th to 15th.

Please keep a close eye on your email over this time for updates, and for anything that may require action on your part. Your committee representatives remain committed to achieving the best possible collective agreement on your behalf and appreciate your ongoing patience and solidarity as we navigate this round of bargaining.
