Local 179 – Saint Mary’s University Bargaining Update

After a series of bargaining sessions throughout February and March the Employer has presented the bargaining committee with a final offer. Your bargaining committee has reviewed this offer and has determined it does not properly address the key priorities you said were important to you, such as wages.

It is the recommendation of your bargaining committee that you vote to reject this final offer from the Employer.

The Union, in collaboration with your bargaining committee, will hold two information sessions on May 2, to share the details of the Employer’s offer, answer any questions and provide information on a vote and outline next steps. It is very important that all Local 179 members attend one of these sessions in person or online. Your bargaining committee is unanimous in their recommendation to reject this offer and needs your support to send a strong and united message to the Employer that their offer is not good enough. Members of your bargaining committee will be onsite next week to answer questions and encourage all members to attend the information sessions.

Information session details such as time and location will be provided in the coming days. That communication will include the details of the offer so you can review and come with any questions you might have.

It is very important that the Union has the contact information for all members. If you know of someone who is not receiving these communications please have them call the NSGEU Labour Resource Center at 902-424-4063 and update or provide their current contact information.

If you have any questions, please contact a member of your bargaining committee:
