Local 41 Bargaining Update: Conciliation Scheduled for October 18

Your Bargaining Committee has met with the Employer on five (5) occasions;

November 9, 2021

November 24, 2021

January 19, 2022

April 28, 2022

July 27, 2022

While some progress was made during these meetings, there are still some key items that remain outstanding. As a result, your Bargaining Committee filed for Conciliation on July 28th, 2022. A conciliation date has been set for October 18, 2022.

Your Bargaining Committee is committed to reaching a tentative agreement that we can recommend to you.

What is Conciliation?

Conciliation is a requirement under the Nova Scotia Trade Union Act that takes place when regular negotiations fail to reach an agreement. Either party may apply to the Minister of Labour and Advanced Education requesting the services of a Conciliation Officer. The Conciliation Officer does not have the power to impose a settlement on either party. Instead, their role is to mediate between the parties and help them reach an agreement.

Your Bargaining Committee would like to thank you for your solidarity and support as we make our way through the bargaining process. Please watch your email for an update following conciliation.
