Local 71 – Chignecto Central Regional School Board – Negotiations Underway

Your Bargaining Committee met with the Employer to exchange bargaining proposals on Monday, February 18th at the CCRSB Central Office in Truro. After the exchange of proposals, collective bargaining began for a new Collective Agreement for Local 71 members. Talks continued during February 18th, and February 19th. The Union has made major proposals on job security and staffing, and these two issues were the primary focus of the negotiations on these two days. Although we have not concluded our discussions with the Employer on these matters, the negotiations proceeded in a productive and cordial fashion, and the Bargaining Committee is hopeful that progress can be made in these two issues.

The Union’s bargaining proposals, compiled after input from the Local 71 membership, will be mailed to the members this week. Negotiations are scheduled to continue on Monday, March 4th, and Tuesday, March 5th.  Your Bargaining Committee is committed to achieving a fair and reasonable Collective Agreement for all Local 71 members. Please stay tuned for further updates on the progress of negotiations.

Should you have any questions about the bargaining process, or the Union’s bargaining proposals, please contact a member of your Bargaining Committee as follows:
