Local 87 – Parkland at the Lakes Ltd. Bargaining Update: Conciliation Date Set

Your bargaining committee initially exchanged proposals with the employer on December 12th, 2023, and have had an additional four bargaining sessions (December 13th and 14th and February 6th and 7th, 2024).

Unfortunately, we have reached an impasse.

Conciliation has been scheduled for Thursday, March 21st. We are committed to reaching a tentative agreement that your bargaining committee can recommend.

What is Conciliation? Conciliation is a requirement under the Nova Scotia Trade Union Act that takes place when regular negotiations fail to reach an agreement. Either party may apply to the Minister of Labour and Advanced Education requesting the services of a Conciliation Officer. The Conciliation Officer does not have the power to impose a settlement on either party. Instead, their role is to mediate between the parties and help them reach an agreement.

Thank you for your continued solidarity.

If you have any questions about the bargaining process or next steps, please contact a member of your bargaining committee.
