Case Aide Classification Update
Dear members,
Case Aides are heading toward a classification hearing!
Over the past few years, several of your co-workers have been vigilantly working with union staff on a reclassification initiative for the Case Aide position. They have formed “The Case Aide Leadership Group”.
Your Leadership Group delivered an extensive half-day presentation to the Public Service Commission (PSC) and management on April 9, 2019. It was a powerful and detailed testimony of our concerns.
Furthermore, a pre-grievance or letter of concern was filed in August 2019 that contested the underpinnings of the Employer’s actions in initially removing the classification TE18. This process also triggered a meeting and document exchange with the PSC about the restoration of the full Case Aide salary, TE 18 level, with appropriate retroactive pay.
Although there had been some optimism about settling this issue with the Employer and some discussion was held, we are not prepared to continue to wait. We are now moving full steam ahead toward a hearing. Your Leadership Group has already been developing their testimony and researching persuasive potential evidence for a hearing.
Thank you to all those members who are in the Leadership Group and to all of you for your solidarity as we continue to pursue this classification appeal. We will let you know when dates are set.
