CCAs: Update on Premier’s Promised Pay Increase

It has been brought to our attention that our April 4th update regarding Premier Houston’s promised pay increase included an error regarding the date of retroactivity. The Premier’s announcement was made on February 9th, however, the pay increase is retroactive to February 10th and not February 9th as stated in our update.

We apologize for any confusion and include a corrected update below

We realize that Continuing Care Assistants (CCAs) have not received the wage increases that were promised to you by Premier Tim Houston on February 9th.

We have received many questions from members who are understandably upset and wondering when they will receive their pay increase.

Since our last update, memorandums of agreement with some of our Home Care and Long Term Care employers have been signed by the Union and have been returned to HANS or the respective Employer. Employers will soon begin the process of implementing the wage adjustment in accordance with the MOAs and begin processing retroactive pay.

We realize that this is frustrating, as you expected to receive the pay increase when the Premier promised it. The union has not been an impediment to this process, and has, in fact, been taking all steps to ensure you receive your promised increase in a timely manner. When you do receive your increase, it will be retroactive to February 10th, 2022.

We appreciate your patience as we work with the various employers to make the necessary adjustments.
