Local 267 NSCC – Talks Break Off – Conciliation Services Requested

Your bargaining committee has met with the employer for a total of eight days ending on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013. Very little was achieved during these negotiations. As a result, the union has made a request to the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Advanced Education to appoint a conciliation officer to assist the parties in reaching an agreement.

Conciliation is a process under the Trade Union Act where one or both parties can make an application after reaching an impasse at the table. Conciliation officers work for the Department of Labour and Workforce Development and they bring the parties together to try to resolve their differences and agree on a collective agreement.

We are hoping to have a conciliation officer appointed as soon as possible so bargaining can continue.

Thank you for your continued support for our efforts as we try to achieve an acceptable agreement.

If you have any questions, please contact a member of your bargaining committee or the NSGEU at 424-4063 (toll free 1-877-556-7438), or email us at inquiry@nsgeu.ca.
