“The vital work our members do every day keeps the campus functioning efficiently,” says Joan Jessome, President of the NSGEU. “This local has sent a strong message of support to their Bargaining Committee as they head into conciliation.”

The union and employer are negotiating the merger of Local 92’s 174 members into existing Dalhousie Locals 77 and 99. These negotiations were necessitated by the merger of Dalhousie and the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in 2012.

Outstanding issues include: wages, job security and displacement rights, and job classification and appeal process.

Local 92’s current collective agreement expired on March 31, 2012.

Members of Local 92 work in all areas of the Agricultural Campus – clerical, professional, maintenance, technical and service, and research.
