OCTOBER IS MI’KMAQ HISTORY MONTH
Treaty Day, (October 1st) marks the beginning of Mi’kmaq History Month in Nova Scotia as proclaimed in 1993 by then Premier John Savage and Mi’kmaq Grand Chief Ben Sylliboy.
This year’s Mi’kmaq History Month poster honours and celebrates Mi’kmaw beading masters who have carried on beading traditions, designs and patterns through their ceremonies and art. We are all treaty people. To learn more, download this year’s poster: https://mikmaqhistorymonth.ca
