Show Support For Striking Herald Workers in Sydney!
Striking members of the Halifax Typographical Union, who are reporters, photographers and editors at The Chronicle Herald, have been on strike since January 23rd, 2016. They are not on strike to get higher wages and benefits. Rather, they are fighting to protect what they already have, as their employer is proposing a reduction of editorial staff by about a third, significant cuts in salaries, longer hours for employees and removal of the gender parity clause from contracts.
If you’d like to show your support for these workers, and you live in the Sydney area, please join their BBQ/rally this Saturday, June 4th at 500 George Street between noon and 2 p.m.
