Celebrating National Medical Laboratory Technologist Week April 20-25, 2015
Did you know?
Medical Laboratory Technologists keep your lab testing standards high.
MLTs are highly trained individuals who collect specimens, perform the testing, interpret the test results, maintain instruments and machines to provide state of the art analysis, perform quality control measures, and correlate the clinical situation with the patient condition to ensure your results are accurate.
They match blood and platelets for your transfusion; look for bacteria, parasites or viruses that cause infections. They perform cell counts and look for abnormal cells in blood and body fluids, and perform molecular and DNA analysis.
They send the results to your doctor who uses them to help in your treatment or diagnosis.
Seldom seen, but always relied upon for accurate results, MLTs work behind the scenes to ensure testing equipment is running correctly and all standards of testing are met.
National Medical Laboratory Technologist Week is a week to recognize the important work MLTs do.
