Local 63 A & B Sick Leave Letters

It has come to the attention of the Union that the Employer has directed members to obtain a Doctor’s note even if the member has no pattern of sick leave usage or extended absences due to Illness. The Employer has also directed the members that they must make a medical appointment on the day they call in sick and get a Doctor’s note, or they were not be paid sick leave as per the Collective Agreement.

The union feels that either direction by the Employer is a violation of the Collective agreement.

If you call in sick and are directed by the employer to do what is listed above please contact the Union at (902) 424-4063 or email your Employee Relations Officer, David Lawrence, dlawrence@nsgeu.ca so we can discuss filing a grievance.
