Message on Non-Civil Service Reassignments

Having received inquiries regarding an email from your employer informing staff working at Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD) that “As someone with a Bachelor of Education, you may be contacted with little notice as the system stands up schools each day. You may be required to substitute in a school. EECD is working with Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) on a daily basis to ensure schools are properly staffed to receive students.”

The NSGEU reached out to the employer as the language used is contrary to the reassignment language in your collective agreement.

Your employer has responded that any reassignments will be voluntary and that a voluntary reassignment from EECD to HRCE would also be a last resort.
