NSGEU is sponsoring “Don’t Drink and Drive Commercials” featuring a member of Local 1995, Cape Breton Regional Police.

NSGEU represents members who work for the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC) and for the Cape Breton Regional Police (CBRP). When we were approached to sponsor a “Don’t Drink and Drive” commercial featuring a member of the CBRP, we saw it was a great fit and an important message.

NSGEU members of Local 470 and 1670 work for the NSLC in the stores, warehouse, offices, and in management. They take pride in their “Check 30” program which keeps beverage alcohol out of the hands of minors and those who should not have it; including anyone already intoxicated. (Note: NSLC staff do not work at private Agency Stores where beverage alcohol is sold in what is called a “mixed commodity” setting alongside pop and candy.)

Members of the CBRP work everyday to keep people safe in their communities. This includes getting the message out to Nova Scotians that they should not drink and drive.

We are proud of our members who provide these valuable public services and glad to sponsor commercials with this important public safety message.

Look for the ads on prime time on CTV in Cape Breton, Pictou, Antigonish, and Guysborough. They run from December 16 – December 31, 2014.

Have a happy and safe holiday season.
