NSGEU sends letter to Premier offering arbitration to avert a strike subject to ratification by home support members.

Dear members,

President Joan Jessome has sent a letter to Premier Stephen McNeil offering the option of arbitration in order to avert a strike.

Your union believes there is a strong case to be made to the arbitration board on your behalf.

This proposal will need to be ratified by the membership if the Premier agrees to it. It will be a decision that you, the members, make.

We are hopeful that we can avoid a strike and achieve a fair agreement with this resolution. The decision lies in the hands of the Premier.

An emergency meeting is scheduled for Northwood at the NSGEU office tonight at 7pm on the eve of a possible strike.

If the Premier agrees, there will be VON meetings scheduled for Friday night.

By standing together, in solidarity, we can win this fight for fairness. There is strength in numbers!
