Telephone Town Hall – Housing Authorities – Locals 47, 103, 25, 26

On Monday, April 8, we will hold a telephone town hall for all members of Local 47, 103, 25 and 26 to update you on the status of your negotiations.

As you are aware on January 29, 2019 talks broke down between the Union and your Employers. The Union filed for the assistance of a conciliation officer to assist the parties to reach an agreement.

Conciliation dates have been set for:

Local 47 (metro): April 16 & 17
Local 104 (Eastern Mainland): April 18
Local 25 (Western): May 26
Local 26 (Cobequid): May 13

Based on your input through the 2018 bargaining survey the bargaining committees knew that having language to address classification, rates of pay issues and joining the Public Service Superannuation Pension Plan (PSSP) are your highest priorities. The Employers did not agree to the Union’s proposals on these important issues.

NSGEU President Jason MacLean has met with each Local and a strike vote will take place from April 9 – 16.

President MacLean will be joined by NSGEU staff to explain the conciliation and strike vote process as well as discuss the issues that will go forward to conciliation.

Participating in the Telephone Town Hall is easy. We call at 6:15 p.m. If you have a question or wish to make a comment at any time during the call, please dial *3. After speaking to an operator, you will be put in a queue where you will be able to ask your question or make a comment live. The meeting call will last about 90 minutes, but you can leave at any time simply by hanging up.

If you are unsure if we have an up-to-date phone number for you, please contact us by calling 902-424-4063 (toll-free 1-877-556-7438) or email us at inquiry@nsgeu.ca.
Please make every effort to attend the Telephone Town Hall. Feel free to help spread the word among your co-workers.

Thank you!
