Civil Service Deputy Sheriff I, II & III Classification Grievance Update

As you may be aware, your union filed two substantially altered classification grievances; one for the Deputy Sheriff I-II classification (P-20-1594), and one for the Deputy Sheriff III classification (P-21-449).

Members representing Sheriff Deputies and Supervisors presented the union’s case to the employer and Public Service Commission (PSC) in April 2022. That presentation was thorough and rigorous.

Unfortunately, the union did not receive a response from the employer and as a result, the grievances were referred to adjudication on October 18th, 2022.

We now have confirmed adjudication hearing dates for October 18th, 19th, and 20th, 2023. An adjudication hearing is similar to a court proceeding but less formal. Both the union and the employer will have representation from legal counsel and a third-party adjudicator will hear the case over those three days. The adjudicator will then make a decision. We will keep you updated.
