Local 41 – Northwoodcare Bedford Union Grieving Delayed Retro Pay – UPDATE

Further to our update sent March 3rd (see below in italics):

The union has learned of multiple miscalculations and missteps related to the retroactive payment you’re entitled to as Local 41 members.

The union has decided to send the policy grievance we filed on this matter to arbitration to seek a resolution.

We will keep Local 41 members updated as the file moves forward.

Good morning,

Northwood recently advised the union they would not pay employees their retroactive pay until June 1, 2023.

NSGEU explained to Northwood that delay was unreasonable and filed a Policy Grievance demanding interest be paid on the retroactive sum.

Subsequently, your employer has amended their position and will release retroactive pay owing to its employees for the period of November 1, 2020, to June 2022 by the end of next week.

We will continue to use the interest-seeking grievance process to address the unreasonable delay on retroactive pay owed to Northwood employees from June 2022 to November 2022.

We appreciate your patience as we continue to solve this problem.
