In Appreciation of Administrative Professionals

Good morning,

“Clerical/administrative work is essential to making organizations work. It is conceptualized as routine, and is largely invisible until it is not done. Then things fall apart.”

Marguerite Cassin, Professor of Public Policy and Management,

School of Public Administration, Dalhousie University

We know that Administrative Professionals truly are at the heart of public service in Nova Scotia. They are the smiling faces greeting the public, the capable voices answering questions, and sharp minds keeping workplaces organized and running smoothly. This year more than ever, Administrative Professionals have had to adapt and find creative solutions to the many challenges that have been presented by the pandemic.

The NSGEU represents approximately 8,000 Administrative Professionals working throughout the province. We recognize the important role each and every one of you play in your workplaces as we celebrate Administrative Professionals’ Week (April 19th to 23rd) and Administrative Professionals’ Day (Wednesday, April 21st). We would like to offer our sincere apologies for sending this message out a day late: we had the date incorrectly marked on our calendars as Wednesday, April 28th, and had originally scheduled this message to be sent to you on that date, instead.

Thank you for the work you do on behalf of all Nova Scotians, particularly during this very challenging year!
