Drafting & Illustration Technician I-II (Property Mapper SNSMR) Grievance Settlement

A substantially altered Classification Grievance was filed on behalf of Drafting & Illustration Technician I-II (Property Mapper SNSMR) in 2013 (P-12-1485).

The matter had been referred to adjudication and hearing dates were scheduled for September 26, 27, 28, 2017.

The Union entered into settlement discussions with your Employer and have come to an agreement.

It is agreed that Property Mappers will go from the TE21 to the TE23 pay scale. Unfortunately, the Department was firm that retroactive pay would only go back to August 1st, 2016.

We had discussions with legal counsel for the Union and based on that advice, the Union agreed to the retroactive pay going back to August 1st, 2016. There was a risk, based on the timing of the changes and a previous arbitration award, that the arbitrator could dismiss the grievance because the changes occurred too far in the past.

As a result, we decided it would be in the best interest of the members to accept the offer of one year of retroactive pay and settle at TE 23 than run the risk of losing it all.

The Union appreciates this has been a long process and want to thank the dedicated members who have provided valuable information, time, and expertise to this grievance.

The Employer is hopeful to have the retroactive payments submitted to the Employees by the end of October.
