Local 27 – Evergreen Home for Special Care Policy Grievance Clarification
Dear members,
In our communication we sent to you yesterday, we did not mean to suggest that the employer admitted it was failing to notify employees when they were eligible to join the group benefits plan. In fact, this question was in dispute between the parties.
However, rather than argue about that in arbitration, the parties agreed that all employees who were eligible to join the group benefits plan should be able to do so on a go-forward basis without the need to make retroactive payments for their premiums. Both sides thought this was the best solution for everyone.
All employees who are eligible for coverage and are not currently in the plan can now apply to join and the union urges you to do so.
