LPN Wage Parity & Retroactivity Update

Good afternoon,

The arbitration dates that were scheduled for June 1st and 2nd for our LPN wage parity and retroactivity grievances on behalf of our Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) LPNs, ORTs, and CCRAs has been rescheduled to September 7th and 8th after the NSHA requested an adjournment due to COVID.

For clarity these were grievances filed for ORTs and the CCRAs in Local 101 (the former CDHA), LPNs and CCRAs in Locals 104, 193, and 195 (PH, CC, AD).

The arbitrator approved the employer’s request.

We had attempted to negotiate an adjournment of just the retroactivity piece to be heard at a later date by one arbitrator for all unions representing nurses if the employer consented to move forward without delay on the issue of CCRA wage parity (the only outstanding LPN classification to not receive wage parity to date). The employer refused.

The union plans to take advantage of this adjournment to continue preparing for the arbitration and continues to advocate for CCRA wage parity at every opportunity. We would like to thank our CCRA members for their continued advocacy.

For our Local 101 LPNs working at the IWK, we are still awaiting hearing dates for your retroactivity grievance. We will update you when we have those dates.
