Home Care Update

Dear members,

I wanted to reach out to you to let you know that we are working to have your concerns about COVID-19 and how it could affect you and your clients addressed as soon as possible.

We have had conversations with the Department of Health & Wellness to pressure them to give clear, consistent information and direction to all home care workers in the province. This information should not be coming from each employer in a piecemeal way: rather, government needs to take the lead.

Unfortunately, they are taking far too long to provide home care workers with the information you need to feel comfortable that you are able to provide service safely.

To this end, I have sent a letter to the Premier, Minister of Health & Wellness and Chief Medical Officer to demand they give NSGEU CCAs clear direction and information immediately. I hope to have a response for you shortly.

I appreciate how stressful this situation is for all of our frontline health care workers, and want to assure you that we are doing everything in our power to get you the information and answers you deserve.
